“Bangladesh Railway has decided to launch wagon services to transport sacrificial animals for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha from one part of the country to another where railway network is available following the demand of businesspeople, ” said the minister while speaking at a press briefing held at Railway Bhaban.
Sacrificial animals from different parts of the country, especially from Rajshahi, Pabna, Natore, Mymensingh, Jamalpur and Faridpur, come to Dhaka before Eid, he said.
“We'll transport those using wagons charging Tk between 1,500-2 500 per animal. Many wagons can be attached to a train as each wagon has the capacity to carry 15-20 animals,” said Nurul.

The possible date, route and stations will be fixed in consultation with the Livestock Department and traders concerned, he said adding, “The transportation of sacrificial animals can be started any time as per the demand of traders.”
The maximum charge for transporting each animal is fixed at 2,500 from Gaibandha, Pabna and Kushtia to Chattogram while to Dhaka the maximum rate will be Tk 1,500-2,000, said the minister.

Bangladesh Railway has introduced a train named ‘Mango Special Train’ from Chapainawabganj and Rajshahi for transporting mangoes, enabling traders to easily transport their mangoes to different cities, including Dhaka.
The Bangladesh Railway also launched a luggage van for transporting vegetables from different parts of the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.
