Tabarak Ali, 32, was escorted by police from his village home at Pathakoin under Bishwanath upazila of the district early in the morning. Three accomplices, or more accurately underlings, went down with him.
They have been identified as Wahid Mia, 22, son of late Yusuf Ali of Bishwanath; Sagor Hawlader, 20, son of Abul Hossain of Shaebganj under Bakerganj thana of Barishal and Imon Jomaddar, 18, son of Feroz Jomaddar of Boropasha of the same thana.
Lutfor Rahman, Additional Police Super of Sylhet, confirmed the identities of those taken in and disclosed there were 10 cases pending against Tabarak across a number of police stations in the city.
He informed that 10 cases including drug were lying against Tabarak Ali at various police stations of Sylhet. “While arresting Tabarak, 1080 pieces of yaba were also seized from his person in two stashes. The street value of the pills recovered would be Tk 324,000 (3 lakh 24 thousand).
Quoting the Police Super, Additional Police Super of Sylhet Lutfor Rahman said that “Tabarak Ali was a notorious drug dealer. Police was working for a long time to arrest him”.
