Rangpur, Oct 7 (UNB) – Mentioning that the syndicate behind hiking the onion price has already been identified, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Monday said they will be brought to book.
“Action will be taken against those who illegally hoarded onions and hiked the price,” he said while talking to reporters at his Central Road residence in the city.
Although onion is being imported from alternative sources, some dishonest businessmen were trying to take the advantage of the ban on onion export by India, the minister said.
He, however, said action will be taken against them. “Ten teams are working in the field.”
Tipu said the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh is selling onion at Tk 45 per kg at 45 spot in Dhaka and arrangement is underway to sell onion through TCB in Rangpur.
