Tidal surge inundated 18 villages in Jhalakati district on Wednesday as Bishkhali and Sugandha rivers swelled due to depression in the Bay.
Houses, roads and agricultural cropland have been affected by the flash flood.

A total of 11 villages of Katalia upazila including upazila parishad bhaban and UNO office have been flooded as there is no dam the Bishkhali River point.
Thousands of people of Awra, Chingrakhali, Joykhali, Kachua, Shoulzalia, Awrabunia, Amua, and Moshabunia villages under the upazila are suffering due to the tidal surge.
Besides, low-lying areas in Nolchhity and Rajapur upazila have also been inundated.
