Shahidul Islam, chief transport official of Bangladesh Railway East Zone, said the train communication resumed around 12 noon after a relief train from Ishwardi cleared the rail track.
Earlier, a Parbatipur-bound oil tanker train from Khulna and Nauapara –bound stone laden freight train collided head-on when reached at Safdarpur Rail Station in Kotchandpur around 2 am, disrupting rail movement of Khulna with other parts of the country.
Later, a relief train from Ishwardi joined the salvage operation around 6 am.
The authorities concerned have suspended the locomaster of oil tanker train, Anisur Rahman in this connection.
A five-member probe body was formed to look into the incident. The committee was also asked to submit its report within three working days.
However, oil from three tankers out of four, each containing 42 tons of diesel, spills from the tankers following the accident.
No causality was reported.
