In Dhaka, a preventive team of Dhaka Customs House arrested a man along with 1.900 kg gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The arrestee was identified as Md Swapan.
Solaiman Saif, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Customs House, said an aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines landed at the airport from Malaysia in the afternoon.
Tipped-off, the customs preventive team challenged Swapan, a passenger of the flight, when he was about to leave the green channel of the airport around 5pm.
Searching his body, the team recovered 19 gold bars worth Tk 1 crore, he said.
The arrestee was handed over to local police station.
In Satkhira, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a suspected smuggler - Quamruzzaman alias Budu, 35, son of Abul Hossain - along with 12 gold bars from Keragachhi bordering area in Kalaroa upazila.
Lt Col Golam Mohiuddin Khandakar, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-33, said acting on tip off, a BGB patrol team arrested Quamruzzaman from a residence of the area in morning.
Later, 12 gold bars weighing 1.850 kg were recovered from his possession.
