Two minor boys drowned in a pond at Dhobkhola village in Sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Jisan, 9, son of Yakub Molla, and Shakib, 10, son of Rojdar Ali Khakan, inhabitants of the village.
Inspector Raoshan Ali of Sadar Police Station (investigation) said Jisan and Shakib went to the pond to wash their fish that they caught from another water-body at noon.
At one stage, one of them accidentally slipped into the water while another one tried to save him. Unfortunately both of them drowned in the pond.
Later, locals rescued them from the pond and took them to Pabna General Hospital where doctors declared the duo dead, the inspector added.
