Information Minister Hasan Mahmud on Sunday said that the demise of ruling party stalwart Mohammad Nasim is ‘unrecoverable’, praising his unique contribution in uniting the 14-party alliance led by the Awami League.
Veteran Awami League leader Nasim breathed his last at a hospital in the capital on Saturday.
Mahmud came up with the remarks after paying tribute to the departed soul at Banani graveyard, where he was buried.
Nasim was the worthy son of national leader martyred M Mansur Ali, and a skilled politician in his own right, the information minister said, adding that “His demise is an unrecoverable damage to the country, politics and the ruling party.”
He also expressed deep sorrow over the death of State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah, who died at a Dhaka hospital heart attack on Saturday night.
“We have lost two leaders of Awami League on the same day, which is an extremely agonizing experience for the party,” he added.
