India is all set to host the 13th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup, which is scheduled to take place from October 5 to November 19, 2023. This tournament marks a historic moment as it will be the first time that the competition is being held entirely within the borders of India. In the past, India had the privilege of co-hosting three editions of the tournament, namely in 1987, 1996, and 2011. This will be Bangladesh’s 7th appearance in Cricket World Cup.

Bangladesh’s ICC World Cup 2023 Schedule: Date, Venue, Time

Bangladesh played its debut ODI match against Pakistan on March 31, 1986, at Tyronne Fernando Stadium in Moratuwa. As of now, the Bangladesh Men’s cricket team holds the 7th spot in the ICC Men’s Team Rankings.

Bangladesh's 2023 World Cup campaign kicks off with an exciting match against Afghanistan in Dharamsala on October 7. Throughout the group stage, Bangladesh will be competing in 9 matches held at six different venues across India, namely Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi. After facing Afghanistan in Dharamsala, the team will take on the reigning world champions, England. Additionally, there are two matches scheduled in both Pune and Kolkata.

One of the most anticipated encounters for Bangladesh will be against the host nation, India, which is set to take place on October 19 in Pune. And to conclude their group stage journey, Bangladesh will face Australia on November 12.With a challenging yet promising fixture list, the cricketing world awaits to witness Bangladesh's performances on this grand stage of the World Cup. Bangladesh’s first match in Kolkata is on October 28 against the Netherlands. Bangladesh will also play against Pakistan in Kolkata on October 31. Bangladesh, who finished the World Cup Super League at three, is playing directly in the World Cup.

The tournament featuring 10 teams will be held across 10 different venues. This year’s World Cup will begin with the match between England and New Zealand in Ahmedabad on October 5, who played the last World Cup final. The tournament will last for 46 days. There will be two semifinals in Mumbai on November 15 and Kolkata on November 16. The final match of the tournament will take place in Ahmedabad on November 19. 

Prior to the official start of the competition, Bangladesh will participate in three warm-up matches scheduled in Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Guwahati. These warm-up matches will be held between September 29 and October 3, allowing the team to fine-tune their preparations before entering the main event.

Can Bangladesh Win the World Cup 2023?

Over the past 12 years, Bangladesh’s exceptional performance and high-quality cricket on the subcontinent wickets have earned them a place among the favorites. The team’s prowess and consistent display of skills have led to them being shortlisted as strong contenders for the World Cup 2023. The most surprising fact is that Bangladesh has whitewashed its opponents 10 times in the last 12 years in the ODI format. However, series wins are not counted in this list. From this, everyone understands how strong Bangladesh is in ODIs in subcontinental conditions. Ever since the T20 whitewash of England, the chances of Bangladesh winning the World Cup have become more obvious.
