After the last Group B match, both the Seychelles and Mauritius secured one point each after losing their first group matches to group champions Burundi. But, Seychelles reached the semifinals as they conceded fewer goals (1-3) than Mauritius, who suffered 1-4 goals defeat against Burundi.
With the feat, Seychelles emerged Group B runners-up with one draw and one defeat while Burundi clinched the Group B title to reach the semifinals with all-win record.
The East African nation, Seychelles, will now play Group A and defending champions Palestine in the first semifinal on Wednesday while Group B champions Burundi will face hosts Bangladesh in the 2nd semifinal on Thursday, both at 5 pm at the same venue.
In the match, Midfielder Gervais Waye-Hive and forward Perry Moniaie netted one goal each for Seychelles while substitute forward Alex Ferre and midfielder Adrien Francois scored one each for Mauritius.
Seychelles, ranked 200th in FIFA in rankings, started to play pressing football against 172nd ranked Mauritius from the beginning.
They took its fruits in the 19th minute as their midfielder Gervais netted the ball home by a right-footed grounder from inside the box, utilising a cross of midfielder Brandon Labrosse (1-0).
In the 28th minute, forward Perry Moniaie doubled the Seychelles margin as Mauritius defender Pitghen Adrien failed to foil his attempt in the danger zone (2-0).
After conceding two consecutive goals, Mauritius came alive and tried to level the margin after the half time.
In the 68th minute, substitute forward Alex Ferre, who came in place of defender Antoine Jordan, sent the ball home by a header off a corner by captain Pascal Balisson to reduce the margin (2-1).
In the stoppage time (91st minute), midfielder Francois netted the equaliser for Mauritius utilising a blunder by Seychelles defender-cum-captain Warren Mellie in the danger zone (2-2).
Juninhno Mathiot of Seychelles got marching order in the 83rd minute after receiving 2nd yellow card in the match.
