Following a devastating injury during their first match in Qatar World Cup, against Lionel Messi’s Argentina, Saudi footballer Yasser al-Shahrani has given fans assurance that he is “doing ok”.
The Saudi football player, speaking from a hospital bed where he was receiving treatment, said: “I wanted to assure you that I am okay. Pray for me. And congratulations to our Saudi fans on the win. You deserve it.”

Yasser al-Shahrani collided with Saudi goalie Mohammed al-Owais, and suffered a fractured jaw, damaged facial bones, and internal bleeding, Al Arabiya reported.
The defender was taken off the field and placed on a stretcher before being taken to a hospital in Doha’s Hamad Medical City.

The footballer is stable, according to a statement from the Saudi National Team, and he is now being monitored.

It was one of the major headlines of yesterday's match. However, the entire stadium felt uneasy when Saudi Arabian player Al-Shahrani collided with goalkeeper Mohammed al-Owais and injured his jaw.
