In the second semifinal of the ICC World Cup 2023, South Africa managed to post a modest 212 against Australia on Thursday in Kolkata.

David Miller stood out with a century, providing the sole resistance against the formidable Australian bowling attack.

South Africa faced an early setback, losing their first four wickets swiftly, posing a significant challenge for the Proteas' batting lineup. However, they struggled to recover. Another noteworthy performance came from Heinrich Klaasen, contributed 47 to the total.

Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood shared the initial four wickets, with Starc claiming an additional wicket, ending with figures of three for 34. Pat Cummins also secured three wickets, while Travis Head, not a regular bowler, impressively took two wickets off consecutive deliveries.

Despite playing two previous semifinals, both against Australia, South Africa has never emerged victorious in this stage.
