The Infinix Zero 5G was launched on 14th February 2022 in India. It is the first 5G smartphone from Infinix. The company has been known for providing flagship-level experience on a budget. The Infinix Zero 5G with its design, processor, and camera appears as another capable mid-range device from the brand. Let’s look at a detailed overview of the phone and see who this phone is for.

Design and Build Quality 

The design is a massive step up from previous Infinix phones. Infinix has been a leader in the budget segment and that has long been reflected in their design and build quality. This time around, Infinix has gone with a more premium design element. 

The back of the phone is reminiscent of the Oppo Find X3 Pro. The protruding camera module seamlessly transitions to the body to create a wave effect which gives the phone its unique look. The phone has a plastic back, a glass front, and a plastic frame. However, the Skylight Orange variant of the phone has a vegan leather finish on the back. It easily alleviates the look and feel of the device much more than the other two color options.

The power button and the volume rocker are situated on the left of the device with the sim tray on the right. The hybrid sim slot allows for two nano sims and a dedicated micro-SD card slot for expanded memory. 

There is a single speaker along with the Type-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the bottom. On the top, Infinix finally included a secondary noise cancellation mic which was previously unavailable on other models. The phone is on the heavier side at 199 g. But the even weight distribution helps to mitigate any kind of uncomfortable hand feel. 

The Display 

Even though Infinix has made significant strides in the design department, it is still a budget phone. And the cut corner becomes even more apparent in the display. The display is an FHD+ IPS LCD panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 500 nits peak brightness.

While the 120 Hz refresh rate is a welcome addition, the IPS LCD tech doesn’t do much to alleviate the display experience like that of AMOLED panels. There is no HDR 10+ support on the display. Users will also not be able to stream HD content from different streaming sites like Netflix and Amazon Prime Videos.

 Other than that, the 6.78-inch display makes for a pleasant viewing experience. There are not any noticeable color shift or tint issues. However, Infinix could have gone with an AMOLED panel as other competitors are doing the same. 

The Camera 

The Infinix Zero 5G comes with a triple camera module. The three sensors are housed in a raised rectangular compartment on the top left of the device. Apart from its unusual design, the main sensor is a 48 MP f/1.8 26mmwide-angle shooter. This sensor has become increasingly common in mid-range budget phones. The other two accompanying sensors are a 13 MP f/2.5 50mm telephoto lens and a 2 MP macro shooter. The dedicated telephoto lens is the first of its type on an Infinix phone.

The main sensor can take decent photos in daylight conditions. However, the problem starts appearing in slightly lower-light environments. There are noticeable grains and underexposure issues in the pictures. This is not a sensor-related issue rather a post-processing shortcoming. Because similar sensors perform far better than this one in dimly lit environments. 

There is a 16 MP punch hole camera on the front. It also performs similarly to the main sensor with perfect shots during daylights. 

The main camera can shoot up to 4K at 30 fps and 1080P at 30 or 60 fps. Overall, the camera system is a good upgrade from previous Infinix devices. But it still has a long way to go compared to its peers.

Processor and Performance 

Perhaps the biggest upgrade on the Infinix Zero 5G is the processor. The company has used MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chipset on the phone which is near on par with flagship-level Dimensity 920 5G processor. 

The processor is an octa-core one with 2 2.5 GHz Cortex-A78 and 6 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 chips inside it. The main two chips help power the intensive tasks for better performance. Speaking of performance, the processor is coupled with Mali-G68 MC4 GPU which helps to process graphics-heavy tasks. 

The processor shows a decent performance score on different benchmarks. Much of it can be attributed to the LPDDR5 RAM with UFS 3.1 storage and of course, the 6 Nm processor. The phone can run almost all the leading 3D game titles with a breeze. The phone can be easily considered as a budget gaming phone for enthusiasts. Needless to say, the Zero 5G does an excellent job with casual tasks like surfing the web or watching YouTube videos.

However, the notable gripe is in the OS. The phone runs on XOS 10 based on Android 10. This is a heavily customized skin of android and it won’t suit everyone’s taste. Again, XOS came a long way from its initial days but it still has a long way to go. 

Battery and Charge Time 

The phone has a 5000 mAh battery which comfortably lasts a whole day of use. Because of the efficient processor, users will get around 7 to 8 hours of SoT with this phone. The phone also comes with a 33W fast charger which can top up the phone from zero to 100% in less than 90 minutes. 

Price of Infinix Zero 5G in Bangladesh

The Zero 5G variant is not officially available in Bangladesh yet. In India the price is around Rs.19,999 which is equivalent to BDT 22,898 (1RS= 1.14 BDT). The official price of Infinix Zero 5G may vary in Bangladesh due to different issues like tax, company policy, etc.

The Infinix Zero 5G ticks a lot of the boxes and also struggles in some. The display and the camera still need improvement to be on par with the design and performance. The battery life of the phone is excellent and easily one of its strong selling points. The phone can be a perfect choice for budget gamers as well as people looking for a stylish performance-oriented phone at a fraction of the flagship price.
