Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is visiting Oman as part of ongoing consultations between Tehran and Muscat on arrangements for managing passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
The two countries have been holding consultations on the issue for the past two months. Iranian officials have repeatedly maintained that Tehran has the sovereign right to oversee management of the strategic waterway to ensure its safety and security.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the United States has a history of violating or failing to honor agreements. He said Iran has not sought negotiations at the current stage, but remains open to receiving mediators visiting Tehran.
Baghaei also accused Washington of breaching the memorandum of understanding (MoU) by carrying out air strikes and revoking the exemption that had allowed Iranian oil exports.
