The Senate of Rwanda has 26 members, among whom 18 senators have concluded their term, while six others will end their term next year, said a statement issued by the parliament on Thursday.
Another two senators did not serve their entire term of office because of death or the appointment to other official position, it added.
New senators will serve a five-year term, which can be renewed once after a constitutional amendment in 2015 shortened the eight-year non-renewable term.
Rwanda held three-day senatorial elections last month, where 14 senators from Rwanda's four provinces, the capital city Kigali and higher learning institutions were elected.
The National Consultative Forum of Political Organisations, a platform that brings together 11 political parties in Rwanda for the purposes of political dialogue and building consensus and national cohesion, designated the remaining four seats.
