Because of the coronavirus outbreak, the government has discouraged offering Eid prayers in open spaces or Eidgahs. It has urged people to offer prayers at mosques by maintaining proper health guidelines and avoid handshakes and hugging – which are customary after Eid prayers.
Bangladesh on Sunday recorded 28 new deaths from coronavirus and 1,532 cases. So far, the country has confirmed 33,610 cases and 480 deaths.
In an address to the nation on Sunday evening, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged all to celebrate Eid staying home and enjoying time with their family members.
"Your safety lies in your hand. Remember, if you remain safe then your family, neighbours and country will remain safe," she said, urging all to maintain the health advice during this pandemic.
