Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a suspected member of the banned militant group Ansar al-Islam from the Court House Street area of Old Dhaka.
The arrestee has been identified as Muhammad Abdullah Al Amir alias Ajmir. A smart phone was seized from him, said DMP’s Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
A team of CTTC arrested Amir from the Court House Street area on Wednesday afternoon. “He’s an active member of Ansar al-Islam, a banned militant group,” Rahman said.
The DMP official said Amir kept in regular contact with various IDs supporting Ansar Al Islam, Gazwatul Hind through Facebook.

He used regularly preach the ideology of those militant groups through his Facebook ID "Mujahid in Lone Wolf" and Telegram ID "Jihadi Soldier", joining various groups and channels.
