Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) has suspended seven officials and staffers in connection with the deaths of three students of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) after being electrocuted on a picnic bus.
Md Akmal Hossain, general manager of Mymensingh Palli Bidyut Samity-2, confirmed the matter on Sunday morning. The suspension was ordered on Saturday night.
Those suspended are Deputy General Manager (DGM Sadar-Technical) of Mymensingh Palli Bidyut Samity-2 Kamlesh Chandra Barman, DGM of Mawna Zonal Office Khondokar Mahmudul Hasan, Assistant General Manager Md Tanvir Salauddin, junior engineer Matiur Rahman, Linemen Parvez Mia, Shakhawat Hossain and Abul Kashem.

Three IUT students died from electrocution while 30 others suffered injuries when their Gazipur-bound picnic bus got electrified at Udaykhali in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district on Saturday morning.
The deceased were Mozammel Hossain Nayeem, 24, Mostakim Rahman Mahin, 22, and Jobayer Alam Sakib, 22. They were students of Mechanical Engineering discipline of the IUT.
Gazipur district administration and the IUT authority formed two separate probe bodies in this connection.
The IUT announced a three-day mourning beginning from Monday.
