The burial of a man who died on Saturday evening was finally completed 40 hours after his last breath, with the interference of the local administration on Monday.
Monir Ahmed, 65, former officer of Padma Oil Company, died on Saturday at 7:30 pm while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chattogram.
After taking the body home from the hospital, his children got involved in a dispute over the sharing of their father's pension worth Tk 50 lakh.
A meeting was held between the children, local administration and dignitaries of the area on Monday, following which his children agreed to bury their father’s body, according to Mamunur Rashid, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Karnaphuli.
It was decided that after the burial of Monir Ahmed, the money left by him will be shared equally among his children. In view of that, Monir Ahmed's body was buried at his family graveyard in Bara Uthan Union of Karnaphuli Thana around 11am, added the UNO.
Earlier, the body was left in an air-conditioned ambulance from Saturday (December 24) evening to Monday morning.
