More than 2.7 million people have died due to Covid-19 pandemic across the globe while over 122.7 million people have infected with the virus till Sunday.
According to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total caseload reached 122,744,816 while the death toll mounted to 2,709,178 as of Sunday morning.
The US has the world’s highest official death toll with 541,909 fatalities. Besides, the US has registered 29,782,305 cases amid the rollout of vaccine.
The next worst affected country is Brazil which has registered 292,752 deaths with a record of 11,950,459 cases in the country.
Brazil on Saturday reported 2,438 deaths from Covid-19 as healthcare systems continue to collapse across the country.
Meanwhile, the country also registered 79,069 new cases.
The South American country is experiencing a new wave of infections generated by the P.1 strain that emerged in the northern state of Amazonas in November last year and the movement of people during the summer vacation.
India's Covid-19 tally rose to 11,555,284 on Saturday, with both the daily cases and new deaths hitting the highest this year.
