Rashedul breathed his last around 6pm while undergoing treatment at the ICU of the DMC’s corona unit, said Dr Alauddin Al Azad, the deputy director of the hospital.
He said Rashedul was admitted to the hospital on October 30 and shifted to the ICU eight days back as his condition worsened.
The DMC administrative officer was put on life support on Sunday as his condition deteriorated further, Azad said.
Days after recovering from cancer, he said Rashedul was infected with the coronavirus.
Hailing from Dinajpur, Rashedul left behind wife and one son to mourn his death.
Azad said Rashedul’s wife, Arjina, also contracted Covid-19 and beat the virus a few days back.
Meanwhile, the country on Tuesday recorded 2,230 more new corona cases, taking the total tally to 451,990.
During the period, 32 more patients died from Covid-19 which put the total death toll at 6,448.
The death rate stood at 1.43 percent, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
