The villagers of Hajiganj, Faridganj, Matlab North, Kachua and Sharasti upazilas will celebrate Eid on Sunday like Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries.
The main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr will be held at 10am at Peer Mawlana Isahak Saheber Darbar Sharif Jame Mosque in Shadra village of Hajiganj upazila following government directives, said Mawlana Jakaria Chowdhury of the darbar sharif.
The Eid congregation will be led by Dr Hafez Khaza Baki Billah Mishkat Chowdhury, he added.
Late Maulana Ishaque introduced the practice of Eid celebration in Chandpur in line with the celebration in Saudi Arabia in 1931.
Devotees of these villages began fasting on the same date with the people of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia announced the Kingdom will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday as the Shawwal moon was not sighted there on Friday night, reports AP.
Meanwhile, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country on Monday as the Shawwal moon was not sighted in Bangladesh sky on Saturday.
The government urged Muslim devotees to avoid Eidgah or other open places for Eid congregations and offer prayers at mosques maintaining recommended health advice.
