A fire that broke out at a warehouse of agricultural products in the BSCIC area of Mymensingh Sadar upazila was brought under control after one and a half hours of frantic efforts, said fire officials.
Motiur Rahman, deputy director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) department in Mymensingh, said that ten firefighting units from several stations rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 12 p.m.
Earlier, the fire erupted from the warehouse around 10:30 a.m. and engulfed a bakery adjacent to it.
During the incident, personnel from the army, RAB, and police supported the fire service teams.
The fire may have been triggered by chemicals stored in the warehouse, which could have heated up and ignited spontaneously, added the fire officer.
