Firefighters managed to douse the fire that broke out at a multistoried building in Mirpur-2 of the capital, after several hours of efforts on Monday.
The fire broke out on the 2nd floor of the 11-storey building named LA Plaza around 1:52 pm , said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector at the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell.
On information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame around 16:35 pm.
Twenty-four people including ten women, who got stranded in a room were rescued by the Fire Service men. Among them, a woman was taken to Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, said Talha bin Jashim, station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell.
What caused the fire could not be known immediately.
No casualties were reported till the filing of this report.
