Chairman of the Department of Mathematics Prof Dr Amal Krishna Halder and Chairman of the Department of Applied Mathematics Prof Dr Md Shafiqul Islam were, among others, present on this occasion.
Prof Akhtaruzzaman urged the female students to play pivotal role for bringing positive changes in the society as well as stopping all sorts of violence against women.
He also called upon the female students to raise their voices against violence and face the evil forces courageously.
The DU VC stressed the need for creating awareness about women’s rights to make the society free from various abuses. We have to make the celebration of “Mujib Year 2020” fruitful through establishment of women’s dignity and rights in the society, he added.
About 250 undergraduate female students from different public and private universities, including Dhaka University, participated in the Olympiad.
Fourth Women’s Mathematics Olympiad held in DU
A day-long Fourth Women’s Mathematics Olympiad was held at AF Mujibur Rahman Ganit Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU) on Sunday.
The Women’s Mathematics Olympiad Committee and AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation, in association with the Department of Mathematics of DU, jointly organised this event to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the event as chief guest. Director of Women’s Mathematics Olympiad Committee Prof Dr Chandra Nath Podder presided over the inaugural function.
