On the other hand, the freedom fighters of Musapur Union of Companiganj Upazila have demanded the permanent expulsion of Quader Mirza from the party at a protest meeting at the Musapur Union Parishad chairman's office.
Earlier on Monday, mayor of Basurhat municipality Abdul Quader Mirza, allegedly led a mob beating of Companiganj Upazila Awami League president Khizir Hayat Khan. As he was alone in the party office Mirza at first pulled him by the collar, harassed and started beating him. At one point Quader’s more than hundred supporters pulled him outside into the bazar and beat him blue like a thief.
