Police solved the case after arresting three people, included Assistant Engineer (Zone-7) of GCC Anisur Rahman Selim, 41, hired killer Shahin and microbus driver Habib, after analysing video footages and use of technology.
Assistant Commissioner (Uttara Zone) Sachin Moulik of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said they interrogated Engineer Selim and two engineers of RFL company –Sufian and Rashed — extensively soon after the victim’s wife Khodeza Akhter filed the murder case at Turag Police Station on May 12.

“We were able to identify Selim after scrutinising video footages near the road adjacent to Delwar’s Mirpur residence and CCTV footages of Selim’s Kafrul residence,” he said.
A team of Turag Police Station arrested Selim from Kafrul on May 20. During primary interrogation, he revealed that he was involved in the killing and hired killer Shahin and driver Habib assisted him in the murder, he said.
Based on his statement, police arrested Shahin from Bauniabadh area of Pallabi and Habib from Bhatara area on Wednesday night, AC Sachin Moulik said.
Police also recovered the microbus used in the killing from Gualanda in Faridpur and the mobile of Delwar from the lake under Bridge no-3 of Diabari under Turag Police Station on Thursday with the help of divers of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
During interrogation, Selim revealed that Delwar was strangulated to death inside the microbus at Rupnagar Beribadh and then his body was dumped on an empty plot of Uttara Sctor-17 near Beribadh on May 11.

Police produced Selim, Shahin and Habib before Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Thursday where Shahin and Habib issued confessional statements. The court allowed police to interrogate Selim five days in custody.
Turag police recovered the body of Delwear from Beribadh on May 11 and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy. His family members identified the body the next day.
