Human chain demands PCR laboratory, ICU in Thakurgaon

A group of people formed a human chain at Chourasta in the district town on Thursday demanding installation of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) laboratory and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in local hospitals to ensure detection of Covid-19 patients.
The formed the human chain at 12 pm and also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Dr KM Kamruzzaman in this regard.
Local teachers, politicians, journalists, cultural activists and people from all walks of life joined the human chain.
Every day the number of Covid-19 infected patients are rapidly rising in Thakurgaon, they said.
The virus is transmitting quickly due to inadequate tests facilities and delay in getting test reports, the alleged.
Meanwhile, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh crossed the 100,000-mark on Thursday after the health authorities announced the detection of 3,803 new cases in the last 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours, 38 more patients died from the virus infection, raising the death toll to 1,343.
