Jhalakati, Sept 11 (UNB) – Police here on Tuesday night arrested a couple in Sadar upazila for reportedly forcing their minor daughter into prostitution whereby she became pregnant.
The arrestees were identified victim’s mother Sahera Akhter Kajal and her stepfather Mohammad Alam of Kalibari area of the district town.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar circle) SM Mahmud Hasan said the victim, a sixth grader, became seven months pregnant as her mother and stepfather forced her into prostitution two years back.
The victim disclosed the matter to police when they rescued the girl during a drive Tuesday night , he said.
Later, her parents were arrested from their house as she filed a case against them, the police official said, adding that the victim was sent to Sadar Hospital on Wednesday for medical test.
