Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury read out the prorogation order of the President.
Earlier, a video of Bangabandhu's speech delivered in then parliament session on January 25, 1975 was aired in the House.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid witnessed the discussions of the session on Sunday last from the President’s Box at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
On November 9, the President addressed the session on the occasion of Mujib Year. On the same day, the Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina proposed a general discussion on Rule 147 to honour the Father of the Nation. Members of Parliament discussed this proposal in Parliament for five working days.
Seventy-nine MPs took part in the discussions in the special session that began on November 8 and they talked for about 19 hours and three minutes and highlighted the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s political and economic philosophies.
Nine bills were passed in this session.
Before reading out the prorogation order, the Speaker said this special session of parliament on the occasion of Mujib Year will remain as a great milestone in the parliamentary history of Bangladesh and the country.
She thanked all the MPs of both the treasury and opposition benches for reaching a consensus in the House over upholding parliamentary democratic practices.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin thanked all the MPs, officials, journalists, law enforcers and fire service and civil defence personnel for their services for smoothly holding the parliament session.
