As the chief guest of the event, BUBT Chairman Prof Dr Shafique Ahmed Siddique said the six-point demand raised by Bangabandhu was the demand for the liberation of East Bengal. But even before that Bangabandhu worked for the goal of the great Independence.
“We can understand it only by reviewing Bangabandhu's diary from 1947 to 1971. And we will be able to come to a conclusion through this review whether Bangabandhu really deserves to be the leader of the nation. Our younger generation should know better about his contribution to the liberation war and make a decision,” he added.

Professor Siddique added that many politicians and analysts questioned why Bangabandhu took part in the 1970 elections if he wanted the independence of Bengal. Bangabandhu would not have got the support of the world in the freedom struggle if he had not participated in the election.
“None of the leaders of global organizations and countries, including the United Nations, then said that make Bangladesh independent. They urged Pakistan to hand over power to the majority elected party but the West Pakistani leaders did not listen,” he added.

Professor Siddique said the speech of 7th March had played an important role in the freedom struggle. Evidence of this can be found in the participation of a large number of peasants, workers and students in the freedom struggle. The imprisoned Bangabandhu was the President of the Mujibnagar Government. Inspired by his ideal, the four national leaders led the war of liberation to victory with the help of the Allies.
Prof. Dr. Md. Fayyaz Khan, Vice Chancellor, BUBT highlighted the contribution of American musician George Harrison and Pundit Ravi Shankar in capturing the passion and attention of the American people towards the people of Bangladesh during the war of liberation.
