“We will achieve SDGs’ targets as we achieved MDGs. Young generation has to take responsibility,” he said
Gowher Rizvi said this while addressing a daylong programme of Youth Forum 2018 titled “Bangladesh and Agenda 2030: Youth’s Expectation” organized by Citizen’s Platform for SDGs at Krishibid Institution in the city.
Expressing optimism that Bangladesh will move forward a long away, Gowher Rizvi said “Bangladesh – 10 years before and today’s Bangladesh is not same. Government has not done it all alone; these developments have been done by all”.
“There is no doubt that we have many challenges ahead. It is very important to recognize those challenges”, he said adding that to fulfill the SDGs targets young generation is working.
Speaking at the programme State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder said, “Government started various youth training activities in 490 upazilas among highly educated youths to reduce unemployment”.
Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, convener of Citizen's Platform for SDGs, chaired the event. Eminent rights activist Advocate Sultana Kamal, Bangladesh Women Football Team captain Sabina Khatun, gold medal winner of International Mathematical Olympiad Ahmed Jawad Chowdhury, and UN Country Director to Bangladesh Sudipto Mukherji also spoke, among others, at the programme.
