A Dhaka court on Wednesday sentenced a Peruvian national to life term imprisonment in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
The convict is Jaime Burgle Gomez.
Judge Fatema Ferdous of Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court-5 handed down the judgment.
The court also acquitted two other accused - Md Abdus Salam and Salah Uddin- as the charges brought against them were not proved, said state counsel Lawyer Rezaur Rahman.
According to the case statement, Jaime was scheduled to fly to India on a flight of Emirates Airlines from Sao Paulo, Brazil. But the flight changed its route and landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on September 1 in 2015.

Airport customs officers searched Jaime on aninformation and found two kg of cocaine worth Tk 52 crore.
A case was filed at Airport Police Station.
Investigating the case, Inspector Mofazzal Hossain of the Directorate of Investigation submitted a chargesheet against three people on December 2 of the same year.
On April 7, 2016, the court started the trial by framing charges against the accused.
