Authorities on Wednesday imposed prohibitory orders in the Amtoli municipal area of Barguna amid escalating tensions over an alleged attack on a local Jubo League leader.
Section 144 will remain in force from 9am to 12pm in the municipal area, said Amtoli Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Asaduzzaman. The prohibitory orders have been imposed in view of a meeting called by the local unit of the ruling Awami League in the area on Wednesday.
Two persons, including Abul Kalam Azad, a member of the Jubo League's local unit and nephew of Amtoli Mayor Matiar Rahman, were injured in the attack allegedly carried out by a group of miscreants on May 21.
