In a statement, it said the role of the support truss is to fix the reactor vessel in place and to bear its weight loads.
It was installed as per the design, prepared by Atomstroyexport (ASE), engineering division Russia’s state corporation-Rosatom, said a statement adding, the Atomstroyexport is the general designer and general contractor of the project.
“It is a very complicated job which needs maximum possible accuracy. Installation was completed ahead of schedule thanks to well co-ordinated efforts of our employees and the people of the construction site,” noted Sergey Lastochkin, ASE Vice-President and Director for Rooppur NPP Construction Project.
“Construction works of Units 1 and 2 are progressing according to schedule”, he said.
Rooppur NPP is being constructed according to Russian design.
The project will have two units with generation 3+ VVER 1200 reactors.
The first unit of 1,200 Mw capacity is expected to be in operation by 2023 and the second with the same capacity in 2024.
The reactor for Unit 1 is scheduled to arrive Bangladesh in 2020.
