Dhaka, Oct 5 (UNB) -Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Jabed Patwari on Saturday said that adequate security measures have been ensured so that the people belonging to Hindu community can celebrate Durga Puja, one of the biggest religious festival of the community, without any hassle.
Durga Puja is being celebrated in a festive mood across the country. The security measure will continue till the last day of the Puja, he added.
The IGP came up with the comments while visiting Puja Mandaps at Dhakeswari Temple and Ramakrishna Mission in the capital in the evening. He also spoke to the devotees and exchanged greetings with them during the visit.
The IGP said, "The spirit of our great liberation war was to build a secular Bangladesh." The number of Puja Mandaps in our country is increasing every year demonstrating the non-communal image of Bangladesh, he added.
DMP Commissioner Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, senior police officers and leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad accompanied the IGP.
