Two sisters drowned while taking bath in a pond of Panaiyarpar village in Kasba upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Sumaiya Aktar, 6, and Samia Aktar, 10, daughters of Babul Mia of Panaiyarpar village.
Monir Hossain, Kasba Upazila Vice Chairman said the duo were bathing in a pond beside their house when Samia drowned.
Trying to save her elder sister Sumaiya also fell into the water and drowned, he said.
The locals rescued the girls and rushed to Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead, Hossain said.
