Two people were killed and eight others injured on Friday in a road accident in Gazipur’s Konabari on Dhaka-Tangail highway, police said.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Konabari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Abul Kashem said the passengers were going to Nikli Haor in Kishoreganj from Kashimpur in a microbus around 6am on Friday. When the microbus reached the Baimail area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway, one of the wheels burst causing the microbus to lose control and collide with a covered van parked on the side of the road and then the road divider.

Ten people, including the driver of the car, were injured. Following the accident, they were taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital and Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial Hospital.
Doctors declared two of the injured dead. The bodies of two of them are in the two hospitals and the injured are being treated, SI Kashem said.
