Police on Wednesday arrested a young man in connection with the 'gang-rape' of a schoolgirl in Debengapara of Maheshkhali upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
The arrestee is Ebadullah, son of Md Ali Prakash.
Quoting the victim, police said Ebadullah asked her to meet him at 9:30 pm on October 11.
Ebadullah along with his two other friends violated her when she went to meet him at night in a remote area of the village and recorded video footage of it.
They also blackmailed the victim’s family with the video footage and demanded money.
Officer-in-Charge of Maheshkhali Police Station Md Abdul Hai said the victim's mother filed a case over the matter.
“We've already arrested Ebadullah and are trying to catch the other accused of the case”, he said.
