The 25th edition of the month-long fair will now end on February 6, according to an official of the ministry.
Meanwhile, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said the DITF will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre being constructed at Sector-4 of Purbachal from the next year.
“We’re optimistic that we’ll be able to arrange the DITF at our permanent venue at Purbachal from the next year,” he said while addressing the concluding ceremony of DITF-2020 at Agargaon on Monday.
The minister said there might be some problems initially but the venue will be an international standard one.
He said the 25th DITF is nearing its end successfully due to proper management.
Mohammad Abdur Rouf, deputy director (Finance) of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), told UNB that the 25th DITF remained closed for several days following the countdown of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and city polls.
The fair was first extended by four days till February and then by another two days till February 6, he said.
This year, a total of 38 local and international pavilions were awarded in 13 categories.
Commerce Secretary Md Zafar Uddin said local and international companies are showcasing quality products at 490 stalls and pavilions at the fair this year.
The traditional month-long fair starting on the first day of the New Year in the Gregorian calendar has been jointly organised by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Commerce Ministry since 1995.
