Coming down heavily on BNP’s anti-government movement, ruling Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud claimed on Saturday that the BNP is now in the gutter, from where they (BNP) call for movements and blockades.
Calling to resist, he said the BNP’s blockade means arson and burning people to death.
Hasan Mahmud came up with the remarks while addressing prior to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a party programme organized by Cox’s Bazar AL in Matarbari of Moheshkhali upazila of the district on Saturday.

Addressing several development projects implemented by his government, the AL leader said, “BNP has gone insane when the country is moving ahead. BNP attacked police on October 28. One policeman was beaten to death. Later they fled away, clearing the streets in 20 minutes. Now they have entered the gutter.”
Hasan Mahmud, also information and broadcasting minister, alleged that BNP torched vehicles and threw bombs in the name of movement. They are foes of the country, nation and society.
“They are more violent than violent hyenas. So they have to be resisted,” he threatened.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina not only promises but also keeps which is proved through opening the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar rail line.
The minister also hoped that people will again vote for the AL for the continuation of development of the country.
