"The health sector has been destroyed by the present government. People have the constitutional right to get healthcare, but they’re being deprived of it,” he said.
The BNP leader said, "Their (govt’s) only target is to indulge in corruption in every case. So, they’re filling their pockets taking money out of the pockets of the people, widening the inequality. The rich are getting richer while the poor becoming poorer.”

The BNP leader came up with the comments while opening the screening of a documentary titled “Health Sector and President Ziaur Rahman’ at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office.
Fakhrul said the government has continued the ‘corruption’ and ‘plundering’ even during the dangerous pandemic coronavirus.
He alleged that the government is taking every step and project in the health sector leaving scopes for corruption, collapsing the sector. "They’re now indulging corruption in vaccine procurement. They bought each of the vaccine doses at $4 while its actual price is just 2.33 US dollars.”

The BNP leader also alleged that the government has entrusted Beximco Pharmaceutical with the responsibility for procuring the vaccine as a middleman.
Describing BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s contributions to the health sector, Fakhrul said they will try to inform the new generation about Zia’s role in the development of the health sector while observing the golden jubilee of the country’s independence.
The government is trying to remove Zia’s name from the country by distorting history, the BNP leader alleged strongly protesting the arrest of their party’s 35 leaders and activists, including former MP Habibul Islam Habib, in Satkhira on Tuesday.

"The government wants to destroy all the democratic forces and all the pro-democracy leaders and activists. That’s why cases have been filed against our 35 lakh leaders and activists,” he observed.
