The match will kick off at 6:15 pm at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.
The BPL champions Kings will take on Ctg Abahani Ltd in their 2nd and last group match on December 26 (Thursday) at 3:30 pm at the same venue.
Ahead of the tourney, Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hasan said that they are eyeing their first-ever title in the season’s curtain raiser soccer meet.
"We have made our preparations, all of our foreign and local booters are now fully fit ahead of the tournament, we finished runners-up last year, but this year we are well prepared for the title,” Imrul Hasan told UNB on Tuesday.
Asking about the preparations, Imrul said, “We have passed a very busy season. We took part in BPL and in our first international tournament Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup in October last. Besides, some of our local players took part in the Joint Qualification of the FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 under the national banner”.
"We have some problems in team-combination because we haven’t got enough time for preparations due busy schedule, but I do hope our players will overcome it very soon.” He added
Bashundhara Kings are also taking part in the upcoming AFC Cup 2020. They have been placed in the Group E (South Zone) alongwith TC Sports Club of the Maldives and an Indian Club team. Winners of two Indian clubs--Chennai City FC and FC Goa, will join with us.
Imrul Hasan also believed that his team will do better in the upcoming AFC Cup’2020.
Despite making an impressive start in the Federation Cup Football’2018, Kings finished runners-up losing to holders Dhaka Abahani Limited by 1-3 goals in the final.
Kings started their campaign in the 2018 version of the Federation Cup beating traditional black and white Dhaka Mohammedan by 5-2 goals in the first match of Group D. They emerged unbeaten group champions playing 1-1 draw with former champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd after making 1-1 draw with NoFeL Sporting Club in the group affairs .
On their way to final, Bashundhara Kings crushed Team BJMC by 5-1 goals in the quarterfinals and beat Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by 1-0 goal in the semifinal.
