Litton Das is all set to lead the Tigers in Test cricket for the first time, as the regular captain Shakib Al Hasan is unavailable for this Test. Litton, who has previously captained in limited-overs cricket, will take charge.
The solitary Test is scheduled to commence on June 14th at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Litton has previously led Bangladesh in four matches, with the Tigers emerging victorious in two of them.

"Playing Test cricket is a significant achievement," said Litton. "Leading the country is a proud moment for me."
However, the captaincy does not bring additional pressure for him, as stated by the right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman.
"I have led the team in the absence of Shakib when he was the captain and had to leave the field for a few overs. So, captaincy is not a source of worry for me," he added.

Bangladesh had played one Test against Afghanistan under Shakib's leadership, resulting in a loss for the Tigers in 2019. The hosts now face the challenge of proving their mettle in the longer format of the game against Afghanistan.
Although Litton claims that leadership poses no separate challenge for him, it is true that he will face additional pressure as the captain in this match.
The Afghanistan team will go back after the Test, only to return in July for a three-match ODI and two-match T20I series.
