A district-level leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was stabbed to death by assailants in Rangamati district in the early hours of Thursday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Joy Tripura, deputy publicity secretary of Rangamati district Chhatra League.

Eye-witnesses said the assailants waylaid Joy and stabbed him indiscriminately at the entrance of Rangamati Sadar Hospital in Sadar upazila around 2.30am before escaping in the dark.
He was immediately rushed to Rangamati Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Kabir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rangamati Kotwali Police Station, said that "efforts are on to identify and nab the perpetrators of the crime".
