The suspension followed a move by Indian border security forces BSF were not allowing C & F members from either country to enter the Indian custom office with the Import-export related documents. Customs officials, however, said customs officers communicate with the Indian customs, and Port authority to resume the Import export activities.
Kartik Chatterjee, general secretary of Indian Petrapole Port C&F Agent Staff Welfare Association, confirmed that Bangladeshi C & F agents obstructed by BSF when they entered the Petrapole custom office with the Export documents in the morning. BSF members obstructed them to enter into India. In that moment all kinds of import-Export activities suspended . Thousands of loaded trucks waiting to indian port to entered the Benapole Port specially highly perishable goods.
Benapole C&F Association President Mofizur Rahman Sazon said that import-export with India has been stopped since morning when Indian border forces BSF was not allowed t enter the C & F agents staff in Petrapole port. However, it is not yet known why they are not allowstaff to enter India.
Assistant Commissioner of Benapole Customs House Uttam Chakma, said we are trying to solve the problem and made to allow both side C&F agent staff s to enter into Indian and Bangladesh Port.
