SAFF U-17 Women's Championship begins Monday
The five-nation South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-17 Women's Football Championship' 2023, will begin here on Monday (March 20) at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.
Five countries, four from South Asia --- India, Nepal, Bhutan and hosts Bangladesh, along with European side Russia --will compete in the nine-day meet, organized by SAFF, under the supervision of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).
Hosts Bangladesh will play Bhutan at 7:15 pm (Bangladesh time) on Monday in one of the two opening day's matches while India will face Nepal in the inaugural match at 3:15 pm on the day.
In the remaining matches, Bangladesh will play Russia on March 22 at 3:15 pm, will face India on March 24 at 7:15 pm while will meet Nepal on March 28 at 3:15 pm.
After the league basis matches, the highest point-holder team will be the champions.
All the three South Asian teams--India, Nepal and Bhutan--already reached the capital on Saturday to participate in the SAFF Women's Junior meet.

SAFF U-17: Bangladesh eliminated with defeat against India
Bangladesh U-17 team were eliminated from the six-nation SAFF U-17 Championship losing to defending champions India 2-1 in the first semifinal at the Racecourse International Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Monday.India will play the final on Wednesday (Sept 14) against the winners of Group B champions Nepal and Group A runners-up and hosts Sri Lanka, who were scheduled to face each other in the 2nd semifinal on Monday night.After a barren first half in the day's match, Gangte scored both the goals for India in a span of only eight minutes--first in the 51st minute and 2nd in the 59th minute (2-0).

Bangladesh, the unbeaten champions of Group A, will play defending champions India in the first semifinal of the six-nation SAFF U-17 Championship on Monday (Sept 12) in Colombo.The match will kick-off at 4pm Bangladesh time at Racecourse International Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Group B champions Nepal will play Group A runners-up and hosts Sri Lanka in the 2nd semifinal on the same day at the same venue at 8 30 pm Bangladesh time.

There are no injury problems in the team and all are well prepared ahead of the semifinal against their giant neighbor India. Bangladesh will also practice Sunday morning.

SAFF U-17: Bangladesh emerge group champions to reach semifinal outplaying Maldives 5-0;
Bangladesh emerged Group A champions to reach the semifinal of the six-nation SAFF U-17 Championship outplaying the Maldives by 5-0 goal in their last group match at Racecourse International Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
Bangladesh will play the first semifinal on September 12 against the Group B runners-up, yet to be decided.
The final match will be held on Sept 14.

With the day's feat, Bangladesh finished top in Group A with all-win record securing full six points from straight two matches after crushing hosts Sri Lanka by 5-1 goal in their first match Monday.
In the day's match. Bangladesh dominated the first half by 2-0 goals.
Mirajul Islam of Bangladesh made the first hattrick in the ongoing meet scoring three goals in a row in the 74th, 77th and 90th minutes while Nazmul Huda Faisal and Murshed Ali netted one each in the 4th and 38th minutes respectively.

Earlier, holders India also made a good start in the regional youth soccer meet outplaying Bhutan by 3-0 goals in the inaugural match at the same venue last Monday.

Touring Bangladesh dominated the first half and led 2-0 within just 11 minutes.
Rubel Shaikh put Bangladesh ahead in the 7th minute pushing the ball to empty net from close utilizing a lapse of Sri Lankan custodian Mohamed Rihas (1-0) while Mohammad Murshed Ali doubled Bangladesh margin from a goalmouth melee in the 11th minute (2-0).

That was the scoreline at halftime. When the players came back out, Murshed Ali, Sirajul Islam Rana and Mohamad Nazimuddin added one goal each for Bangladesh in the 75th, 79th and 90+3 minutes.
Yasser Sharfraz in the 77th minute scored the consolation strike for the hosts.
Bangladesh team, which was placed in Group A along with Sri Lanka and the Maldives, will play the Maldives in the remaining group match on Wednesday (Sept 7) at the same venue

SAFF U-17: Bangladesh to start campaign versus hosts Sri Lanka
Bangladesh will start their campaign in the six-nation SAFF U-17 Championship taking on hosts Sri Lanka in one of the two opening day's matches on Monday (Sept 5) at 19 hours at the Racecourse International Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.BFF officials disclosed the details of the meet at a press conference at the BFF conference room Wednesday afternoon.
