Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday underscored the need for modernising the education system, enhancing teachers’ dignity and ensuring their financial security to build a knowledge-based society capable of facing global challenges. He also called for greater use of technology in education while stressing that artificial intelligence and other technologies should support teachers rather than replace them. The Prime Minister made the remarks while addressing a discussion marking World Teachers’ Day 2026 at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital. The discussion, organised by the Ministry of Education, highlighted teachers’ dignity, rights, professional development and the need to ensure quality education.
