Depression over Bay likely to move west-southwestwards
The depression over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining area moved west-northwestwards at 6 am on Saturday.
It is likely to move west-southwestwards afterwards, said a special bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the depression area.

Dry weather likely in 24hrs
Weather may remain mainly dry in most parts of the country in 24 hours commencing 9 am on Monday.
“Light rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram division and weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country,” said a Met Office bulletin.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area may form over the Andaman Sea and adjoining area in next three days, it added.

The mercury reached 35.1 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Sylhet while the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.9 degrees in Tetulia of Rangpur division, in 24 hours till 6am on Monday.
Monsoon is weak over North Bay, said the bulletin.

Brace for more showers in 24 hours!
More rains are likely to lash Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, the weather department has said.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” it said.
A mild heat wave is sweeping through the districts of Jashore, Kushtia and Satkhira, and it may continue, the department said in its weather bulletin.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to Assam across central parts of Bangladesh.
One of its associated troughs extends up to the Northwest Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak elsewhere over the North Bay.

More rains are likely to drench Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, with monsoon still being active over the country, according to the weather office.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country," the department said in a forecast on Wednesday.
However, day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to Assam across central parts of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to the Northwest Bay.

Rains likely to cool off Bangladesh
Showers in parts of Bangladesh are likely to bring relief from the scorching hot weather in the next 24 hours, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty winds is likely at many places over Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh & Rajshahi divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in its forecast.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.
The Met office recorded the highest 33mm rainfall in Chattogram district in 24 hours till 6am on Saturday.
The mercury reached 36.5 degrees Celsius – the highest – in Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.2 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi and Chattogram divisions respectively.

Meanwhile, the monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay, as per the bulletin.

Floods in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrakona likely to deteriorate further in 24 hours: Forecast
The flood situation in the Sylhet, Sunamganj and Netrokona districts may further deteriorate in the next 24 hours, said Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre on Friday.
Water levels in 13 points of the country’s rivers are flowing above the danger level and in the next 24 hours, the water level of Teesta may remain near or above the danger level
The flood condition may further worsen in the low-lying areas of Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Rangpur, and Kurigram districts, it said.

All the major rivers of the country are in spate.
According to the numerical weather forecast of meteorological agencies, there is a chance of medium to heavy rainfall (somewhere very heavy) at some places of the northern and north-eastern regions of the country along with adjoining states of Assam, Meghalaya and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal of India in next 72 hours.

As a result the Brahmaputra-Jamuna, the Ganges-Padma, the Surma, the Kushiyara, the Teesta, the Dharla, the Dudkumar and all other major rivers may continue swelling in the next 48 hours , said the forecast.

Dhaka and seven other divisions are likely to witness rain in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am on Sunday.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department made the forecast on Sunday.
“Rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions,” it said.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, at many places over Dhaka and Khulna divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi division with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” said a met office bulletin issued this morning.
Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, the bulletin said.
The highest temperature was recorded 36.2 degrees Celsius at Jashore in Khulna division on Friday while today’s minimum temperature was 25.0 degree Celsius at Dinajpur in Rangpur division.
Maximum rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 85 millimeters (mm) at Sylhet in Sylhet division.
The sun sets at 6:50 pm today and rises at 5:16 am on Sunday in the capital.
