Dhaka: Fire breaks out at packaging factory
The fire which broke out at a packaging factory in the Matuile College Road area of the city on Thursday morning doused in the afternoon.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported till the filling of this report.
Earlier, the blaze began at the corrugated iron-sheet roof packaging factory in Konapara around 7.35am, said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.

Six fire tenders were pressed into the service and it took nearly five hours to douse the flame.
The extent of the damages could not be ascertained yet.

Moghbazar building fire doused
The fire, which broke out at a building in Moghbazar intersection in the city on Monday, was doused completely after one hour of effort by firefighters.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The fire broke out on the 3rd floor of the four-story building around 3:15 pm and spread soon, said Khaleda Yeasmin, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters.

On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 3:55 pm.
The fire originated from an electric short circuit at a store room of a shop ‘Trade Zone’ produced bakery items, including chocolates. The flame was completely doused at around 4:25 pm.
However, no casualty was reported in the fire incident.

Fire guts 4 thatched houses in Dhaka
Four thatched houses and three adjacent commercial establishments were gutted in a fire that broke out in the city's Hazaribagh area in the early hours of Thursday.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The blaze began around 3am in one of the houses in Jhauchar Beribadh and soon engulfed two houses, a rickshaw garage, a hotel and a metal scrap shop in the vicinity, said Ershad Hossain, duty officer at Fire Service and Civil Defense Control Room.
As many as six fire tenders were pressed into service and the blaze was contained around 3.45 am. "The fire was fully doused around 4.30am," he added.

Fire officials suspect that an electrical short-circuit triggered the fire. "Anyway, a probe has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and the extent of damage," the officer said.

Fire breaks out at a multi-storied building at Baridhara
A fire that broke out at a 6-storey building housing a furniture showroom in the city's Baridhara J Block on Sunday afternoon was doused by fire fighters.
Sources at the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters said the fire started on the 4th floor of the Vitra Furniters showroom building at around 4:24 pm.

Six fire fighting units rushed to the spot to control the fire, said Shahjahan Sikder, DAD (Media cell) of the FSCD.
The flames were brought under control around 5:20 pm and it was completely doused at 5:38 pm, he said
No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire was not immediately known, said the Fire Service official.

Demra light factory fire extinguished after 17 hrs
A fire that broke out at a light factory warehouse at Konapara of Matuail in Demra on Thursday afternoon, was put out on Friday morning.
The fire occurred at 4:50pm on Thursday at the godown of Pasha light factory on Hazi Badsha Mia Road, locally well known as Bhutto Road, of Konapara under Demra Police station.
It was brought under control by firefighters around 2am, after nine hours of frantic efforts, said Lima Khanam, the duty officer of the Fire Service control room.
Nineteen units of firefighters worked for 17 hours before the flame was extinguished at around 9:55am in the morning, she said.
No casualty was reported in the incident.
However, neither the cause of the fire nor the extent of damage could be known so far.
